By accepting a room when it is offered, you agree to these terms and conditions and enter into a legally binding contract. We understand that choosing a university is an exciting experience, but it can also be a time when you have a lot of questions. We organize self-guided and guided campus tours, so you can get an in-depth knowledge of what our campuses have to offer. Policy Statement for the Management of COVID-19 – The policy sets out the measures the university has taken to minimize risks to students, staff, contractors, visitors and members of the public. At Essex, we are a campus-based university that offers a distinctive on-campus living and learning experience where you benefit from being on our campus, sharing your learning experience in Essex with other students and being part of our rich and diverse community. We would like and expect you to join us on our campus at the beginning of the semester. We are optimistic that progress in implementing the UK`s immunisation programme will make this possible. The Student Isolation Support Team (SIS) will contact any student who needs to self-isolate by phone or email to ensure you have access to everything you need and to support your well-being. You can find them directly under isupport@essex.ac.uk Since November 15, 2021, the university has updated the guidelines on self-isolation. If you are living with a positive or symptomatic case of COVID, you do not need to self-isolate IF you are doubly vaccinated and get a NEGATIVE PCR result.
It is advisable to take a PCR test when you contact the COVID-19 team for the first time and to monitor your symptoms through daily lateral flow tests and take precautions on campus. For more information, visit the Self-Isolation Help website or email covid19@essex.ac.uk Visiting our campus will be a little different right now and the safety of staff, students and yourself is our top priority. Please read our current covid-19 policies and guidelines and visitor consent before visiting. When booking a tour, you will receive a confirmation email with more details as well as information on how to arrive and reserve parking spaces. If you are a regular visitor to the campus, you should be sure to check the content of this page to ensure that you are kept informed of the university`s current policies. Please email tours@essex.ac.uk to book your visit to the Southend campus. If you develop symptoms, you should take a PCR test and inform the university of your symptoms and any positive results by emailing covid19@essex.ac.uk. You must self-isolate immediately and you are not allowed to leave your home or have visitors in your home. You should also notify your department so that they can offer you support and direct you to online courses. We all know that miscommunication is the cause of most problems, so make sure you know your roommates by name.
Share your linguistic and cultural experiences and offer help to our international visitors who may be a little overwhelmed. You may experience the same fears as yourself, but without the benefit of immediate family and friends. If you want to check exactly what the rules and regulations are, read our Terms and Conditions. If you have any questions about accommodation or an application you have submitted, please contact us at the Student Services Hub. Include your full name and PRID or PG number on all correspondence. Due to social distancing and new one-way streets, walking on campus may take longer than expected. Try to allow more time for your trips to stop for people and queues. Signs to promote social distancing such as directional arrows and queue markers will be located throughout the university building, please stick to them. If you need a reservation for 29 nights or more, the rate will be set at a lower price, which corresponds to the rental period. In this case, the same rental conditions apply as for students who have resided throughout the year, in particular a termination can only be made after the delivery of the key. Residential accommodation is not available for groups and individuals who are not university students.
If you wish to arrive on or after 1 January 2021, you will need to apply for a visa to study with us under the new UK immigration regulations. .
